Claiming my Snarry-a-thon fic!

Since reveals went up today, I'm claiming What Freedom Brings as my entry for this year's Snarry-a-thon.

I am astounded, flabbergasted, and utterly pleased at how well this fic did in the fest. People left me so many wonderful comments, and I'm going to go through and reply to all of them soon enough. It was my first foray into writing Snarry, though I've been reading it for months now, and more than that, it's one of the only fics I've written that has absolutely no smut in it. It's pre-slash, and that was uncharted territory for me. I was even worried that warning for the pre-slash would make people not want to read it, but I knew when I finished the fic that it had ended where I needed it to, and that I could always write a sequel, which I most likely will once I finish my prisoner fest fic because who doesn't want to see Harry pestering Severus at his house.

So, yeah. Thank you so much to everyone who made my first Snarry experience, and actually my first fest experience as a writer, so awesome. There were some fantastic works this year, and I am so happy I was a part of it. The link up there will take you to the fic in the snape-potter community, and it will also be posted on my tumblr and Ao3 accounts.

Updates and Sundries

Alrighty, so I am finally making strides to start using my LJ again. I announced that I would, and then sort of disappeared off the face of the planet. But! I am here and ready to mingle. Basically I came back to LJ because while tumblr has sort of become my home, it's not the best place for fandom interaction and reading fics and all of that. I want to meet more people and make friends and participate in fests and all of that good stuff. (Speaking of fests, I've got a fic that went up last week for Snarry-a-thon, and it's doing awesomely!) Basically fandom has become my escape because my life is kind of crappy right now (I'll whine about it later), so I want to immerse myself in it as much as possible.

On another note, I think I might be too lazy to upload all of my fics here, so there's a handy little link to my Ao3 and Fanfiction.net profiles in the sidebar. All of my fics are archived there. I'll upload newer stuff here for sure, though.

Okay, I think that's all I have to say for now!

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

I've decided to start using LJ again. Mostly to have another place to archive my fics and to whine about my life and such. And to talk to people. I'm always looking for more people to talk to. There will be a momentary ficspam while I get my fics up and make a master list and all of that.

So yeah. There's that.

Oh wait...LJ still exists!

 Hi peoples!

I know, it's been like a million years since I posted here. But I have excuses. Excuses like:

Game of Thrones: watch it. Seriously.
Writing the porns: Check my fanfiction for yummy things.
Reading on my Kindle: I was a bit skeptical when sekahyyh told me it was magical, but now I am a believer.
Tumblr: There are sooo many pretty pictures of my YYH boys there. I can't stay away from that shit.
So basically, I've been cheating on LJ with a number of other things. I'm not too worried about it though. I've done this before, and she always takes me back.

(I do not actually condone cheating...just saying)
 Hello, Friends!

I've been showing twitter and tumblr a lot of love this week, so I figured I should bring everything full circle today. I got a tumblr! It isn't super interesting yet, but give it time. I'm just random enough to make it fun. If you are so inclined to follow me, here is the link: sonata-de-morte.tumblr.com/

My summertime insomnia kicked in this week, bringing with it shit loads of ideas for my fanfiction. Since I currently have three active stories, with plans for a fourth, this is a good thing. Speaking of, The Temptation of Spring, my Karasu/Kurama greek myth fic updated today. Here's a link for that if you want to read: www.fanfiction.net/s/6958563/2/. It's already received the Sekah stamp of approval which is a high compliment as far as I'm concerned since she is such a Karasu aficionado.
Sparks Fly, my Hiei/Kurama explosion fest, is nearing its end, and I am going to miss it. I've been very into pairing Kurama with other people lately, so it might be a while before he makes his way back around to Hiei. But don't worry, H/K will always be my OTP. But Kurama does get around, and I need to honor that.
Hmm...what else?
In other news, I am planning the tattoo I'm going to get this summer! I need to save the money, find a place, and narrow down my ideas of course, but I am getting it done this summer. I've been saying that for over a year now, and every time I have the money, I spend it on something else. Usually expensive sushi dinners.
But no more!
I'm going to start watching Game of Thrones today which I'm super excited about, my parents are speaking again, and I don't have writer's block. Not a bad beginning of the summer. Not at all.

Various and Sundry

Well I've been out of school for only a week, and already so much stuff has happened. What stuff, you say? Here's a list. (I love lists)
  1. I went to see HAIR! : A friend of mine has exquisite taste in theatre and she got us damn good tickets to see the show yesterday. I was never really familiar with it, but the show was AMAZING. The cast was electric, and they sang so well. There were cast members coming down into the audience, rubbing people's hair, dancing on the seats while people were in them. It was a great time. My favorite character is definitely Berger, and this was only compounded by the fact that the actor playing him was SO. DAMN. PRETTY. Here, bask in the man I plan to spend the rest of my life with:
  2. I survived Judgement Day: Chances are you guys did too.
  3. My parents are fighting: AGAIN. I don't even know what about this time. You know, my friends with divorced parents used to tell me how lucky I am to have parents that are still together. I understand that this is true, but with my anxiety issues, I feel like I am constantly waiting on them to break up. Last night my father slept on the couch because he and my mother aren't speaking. I hate it when they do this.
  4. I braided my hair: I've got red and brownish braids now! All 102 of them done by my hand. I love not having to worry about my hair during the summer.
  5. I got Final Fantasy XIII: My brother and I are playing through it, and it is one of the most beautiful and complex games I have ever played. Tales of Symphonia is still first in my heart, but FFXIII is a close second when it comes to jaw dropping games. I'm loving it so far.
  6. I ended things with the love of my life: I know this is ironic, considering the bit about my parents fighting. I understand people fight sometimes. What happened here was simple. I didn't love him anymore. My relationship with this man was always so draining and complicated and needlessly difficult. Truly he wanted one thing, and I wanted something completely different. But I loved him, so I stayed with him. But when the love went away...We were the definition of on again off again, and now we are off for good.
Anyway, so that was the first week of summer, and there are like 10 of them left to go. I still have a lot to do. That's all for now. It's Sunday which is when I write all the chapters for The King and The Consort for the week, so I need to get on that before FFXIII takes over my brain for the day.

I need one of those blue ogres

I feel like I have been packing for hours. In fact, I am pretty sure that is true.

I went shopping with a friend of mine earlier and got home around three. From 3:30 until 9:30, I crammed, smashed, sorted, stuffed, and folded all of my crap into various bins, bags, and boxes. I'm done except for all of the stuff I'm going to need before I leave.

How do I manage to accumulate so much crap? Seriously.  Every year I throw stuff away in an effort to downsize the amount of stuff I have, but I also like to buy shit. I have waaaaaaaay too many books and finding places for them is hard. I also decided it would be a good idea to drink a bottle of wine while packing. That didn't make me anymore motivated to keep packing. So yeah, it took 6 fucking hours.

But I get to go home tomorrow!
 I'M DONE!!!!

Well, I'm done with school work. I still have to be present in class and pack, but I am calling myself finished. You know what this means? It means that I can write fanfiction to my heart's content. Here's a quick list of things you can expect from me in the next couple of months.
  • The Temptation of Spring will be continued!
  • Sight: a tale of clumsy romance between Kuwabara and Kurama
  • Of course The King and the Consort will be continued as well as Sparks Fly
  • A vampire fic tentatively titled Bite Me
I'm sure other things will pop into my head to write, and I'll announce those here in case you want to read them! Anyway, to those of you who are done with school either for the summer or forever, CONGRATULATIONS. If you're still plugging away, good luck.

Hiei will probably gut me

Because I am totally (and maybe only momentarily) shipping his beloved fox with Kuwabara. Have you seen this picture? No, seriously, have you? This picture here?

I am the first to admit that I don't even like Kuwabara that much sometimes. I usually feel the same way about him that Hiei does. But this picture? HOLY SHIT.

I am going to slow down and make some sense, I promise.

First of all, it's beautiful. I don't know who is responsible for this masterpiece, because Sekah linked to it and then I was too absorbed in saving it to my computer to be my new desktop background to pay attention. Kuwabara had never looked so good though. I like him leaner like this and without that ridiculous hairstyle he sports usually. Kurama manages to look more masculine than he actually is, and I love that. And they're holding hands! At first I was all "Oh hell no." But then...I don't know. The rightness of this picture washed over me and all of a sudden all I could think about was writing a fic with an older, more mature, Kuwabara clumsily seducing Kurama. Because the infernal fox can't be in charge all the time, right?
In other news, the ineffable Sekah turned 20 on Monday as I am sure you all know. In celebration of her birth, I put up the first chapter of the Greek myth Karasu/Kurama fic I am working on. It can be found here:http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6958563/1/The_Temptation_of_Spring, if you are interested in such things. I think it's pretty good, and Sekah liked it, so I'm calling it a success.
Also, I am so close to the end of the school year that I can almost taste it. I have the last two days of this week and then next week to go. I cannot wait for summer vacation. There is a huge stack of books waiting to be read, potential fics to be written, and a relationship to save...end....who the fuck knows? Anyway, I'm going to be in Atlanta until August, so if you're in the area feel free to give me a holler!

Looking More Like Chuu Than Anything...

This weekend when I was watching YYH in a marathon fashion, I was also drinking away my problems. This led to some rather amusing observations about the four and the idea for a YYH drinking game. Since the people who read this are YYH fans (and might like drinking?), I thought I'd post the rules of my game here.

YYH Drinking Game
This works well if you have a group, so each person can take a drink for a specific character. It also works well if you can hold your alcohol. If you can't, you can interpret "drink" as "sip" if you want.

1. Take a drink whenever Yusuke has a violent outburst.
2. Take a drink whenever Kurama knows more than he lets on.
Alternatively: 3. Take a drink whenever Kurama is the only on who knows what's going on and is smug and verbose about it.
4. Take a drink whenever Hiei is disdainfully embarrassed.
5. Take a drink whenever Hiei and Kuwabara trade insults.
6. Take a drink whenever Kuwabara gives a speech about his manhood.
7. Or how in love he is.
Blue offered: take a drink every time it's obvious Hiei and Kurama were just fucking, when I was talking about this game on twitter, and I thought it would be nice to see what other people had to add. If you have a suggestion, let me know, and we'll make this bigger. Cause yeah, I can always use more excuses to get drunk.
<---- not an alcoholic!
